I will overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be shown live on Netflix.

Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's bout.

Former twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami venue on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to seriously aim to injure him. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually famous for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Fighter

Despite saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would prevent the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for two years from now.

"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Size Disparity

As both boxers engaged in the usual face-off, with their physical disparity evident, it highlighted just how improbable this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is actually going ahead.
